Equity Policy
Knuckle Down Equity Policy Statement
Knuckle Down is committed to ensuring equity is built into every part of how we deliver our programmes. In doing so, we adopt the widely-used Sport England definition of sports equity:
Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to everyone.
-
Knuckle Down respects the rights, dignity and worth of every young person and coach, and treats everyone equally regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality, disability or social/economic background.
-
Every young person has the right to take part in a Knuckle Down session free from intimidation, harassment or abuse.
-
Every coach, volunteer and member of staff has a responsibility to challenge discriminatory behaviour and to actively promote equality of opportunity.
-
Any instance of discriminatory behaviour — from a coach, a young person, or anyone connected with a session — will be treated seriously and dealt with under Knuckle Down's Code of Conduct and disciplinary procedures.
-
Because our programmes are delivered inside schools, Knuckle Down works within each school's own equality policy alongside this one, and will always follow the school's lead on matters specific to an individual pupil.
